I am a native Kentuckian and former LPGA tour player. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher of the game for 30 years.
Junior Career: (1968-1973)
I started playing golf at age 13 and became the only four-time Kentucky High School Athletic Association Individual Golf Champion in the state of Kentucky. At age 15 I finished runner-up in the Kentucky Women's State Amateur and went on to notch Medalist honors at the 1970 and 1971 Women's Western Junior Championship at Cincinnati CC and Pinehurst No. 2. I went on to win numerous amateur events for women and juniors in the state of Kentucky.
Collegiate Career: (1974-1978)
In 1975 I became the first female full athletic scholarship recipient for the University of Kentucky as a result of Title IX legislation. As a Wildcat I notched 10 collegiate tournament wins, 2 Kentucky State Amateur titles, and a degree in Agronomy before moving on to the LPGA tour in 1980.
Touring Professional Career: (1980-1992)
For 13 seasons I appeared full-time on the tour and was named the Golf Digest/Rolex - LPGA Rookie of the Year in 1980.
Teaching Career: (1992-Present)
In 1992 I retired from the tour and moved back to Lexington, Kentucky with my family and worked as a golf instructor. In this role I have worked with hundreds of junior players, including several students that won national junior and amateur events; they moved on to play and excel at major universities, and several played professional golf and are now NCAA golf coaches.
NCAA Coaching Career: (2007-2010)
I led the UK Wildcats for three seasons 2007-2010 during which time the Lady Cats smashed the school's scoring record (284), and the team returned to post season play for the first time in 9 years.
Senior Tour Professional Career: (2001-2006, 2017-18)
I played for 6 seasons on the LPGA Legends Tour until 2006 and recently appeared at the 2012 - Fore Barrow Challenge teaming with my daughter, Mallory to finish T-8th. (69-66 135).
First Mother-Daughter LPGA Tour Members (2009)
My daughter and I, Mallory Blackwelder Trudeau, became the first mother-daughter duo to receive LPGA Tour Membership, when Mallory qualified for the tour in 2009.
Golf Family of the Year: (2014)
In 2014 my family was honored in New York, New York as "Golf Family of the Year" by the Metropolitan Golf Writer's Association, for my families' contribution to the game.
