<p>Hello everyone My name is Derrick Payne. I am the wearer of many hats including, Director of Golf for Derrick Payne School of Golf, Director of Instruction at Palmetto Golf Academy, and Vice President of Crandon Golf Academy. My golf journey began in the summer of 1998 when I met my mentor, PGA professional Andy Loving of Eagles Landing Golf Course in Berlin, MD . Mr Loving always imparted to me that you MUST be the happiest guy at the course EVERY day because everyone thinks you have the BEST job in the world! Spoiler alert...they are 100% correct!

I have been teaching golf in the Miami area since 2002. As the owner and founder of the Derrick Payne School of Golf, I established an elite junior academy from scratch. Beginning with just a summer camp, DPSOG has grown by leaps and bounds. As of May 1st, 2025, DPSOG students have earned 168 US Kids local tour victories, 41 player of the year awards, and 29 trips to Pinehurst for the US Kids World Championship. A proud recipient of the 2012 and 2019 US Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher Honorable Mention, I am also a certified US Kids Golf Coach. To go along with PGA Coach certification, I am a nationally recognized PGA Jr League captain of one of the largest leagues in the country. The last 5 years, myself and team have been the recipient of the PGA Jr League #gamechanger award for having the largest league in the state of Florida and top 10 nationally each year.
